Salem, MA – Salem State welcomes four extraordinary glass artists to campus this month as part of the Rosenberg Institute for Passionate and Emerging Artists. Christopher Hofmann (Pittsburgh, PA), Claire Kelly (Pawtucket, RI), J. Shannon Floyd (Boston, MA) and Kazuki Takizawa (Los Angeles, CA) will spend the month on campus working in the university’s Glassworks Studio.
This unique residency is designed to give the selected artists the opportunity to work without economic constraint and without distraction. Each artist has the opportunity to explore an idea or a series of ideas in the medium of glass, working in teams with their fellow residents.
In addition to their daily work, the artists will offer free public glass-blowing demonstrations as part of the residency on the following Mondays: June 12, 19 and 26 at 6 pm. The June 26 demo will be preceded by a 5:30 pm artists’ reception. All demos take place at Salem State’s Glassworks Studio, Enterprise Center, 121 Loring Ave. Additional info is available at: 978.542.6365 or Salemstate.edu/arts
This residency, now in its fifth year, is made possible through the generosity of Ira and Judy Rosenberg.
