“Inspired by Tradition” Exhibition at the Kensington-Stobart Gallery
August 1 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 9:00am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, repeating until August 1, 2017
Kensington Stobart Gallery is pleased to announce an ongoing exhibit of two internationally known artists—preeminent maritime artist John Stobart and Vincent Crotty, landscape, interior and figurative artist. “Inspired by Tradition” is a rare and exceptional offering of John Stobart oil paintings of port scenes and Vincent Crotty’s collection of Boston-area and international landscapes. Both artists are influenced by painting from life–Vincent’s plein air approach creates a feeling of spontaneity and ease in his work. With a style that is loose and fresh, cheerful and evocative, he expresses a highly individual vision in contemporary representational painting; while Stobart serves as our historian and guide to life along the water, focusing on sailing ships of yesteryear, paddle steamers, sailboats and tugs.
Kensington-Stobart Gallery is a fine art gallery located in Salem’s historic Hawthorne Hotel. While the Gallery primarily exhibits the paintings of John Stobart, it is dedicated to promoting local and regional artists in continuously rotating exhibits and is pleased to feature these two remarkable artists in this unique exhibit. For additional information, contact the Gallery Director.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
