Salem Maritime Festival

Celebrate ships, sailors, sawdust and song at this annual free family festival. Hosted by the National Park Service, the festival features live music, historical re-enactors, tall ships, demonstrations, and interactive programs and crafts for families.
One of the most popular features of the Salem Maritime Festival is the free 90-minute boat rides around Salem Harbor with the following: Schooner Ardelle, an authentic Cape Ann Vessel from Gloucester, Sea Shuttle’s Endeavor, learn about marine science of Salem Sound, Schooner Fame, a full-scale replica of a War of 1812 Privateer, and Schooner Adventure. Don’t miss a chance to board this National Historic Landmark dockside on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6th!
We’ll have a stage, chairs, and dance floor ready for fun! Joining us for this year’s festival are the following performers: Wolf Music, Ye Mariners All, Sharks Come Crusin, Warszawiaki Orchestra, 3, Sheets to the Wind, Marina Evans, Jackson Gilman, New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus, Marina Evans, and West End Ramblers.

This year’s Maritime Festival included a variety of family-friendly events, exhibitors and demonstrators: 18th Century Reenactors, 18th Century Map-making, Bob Brophy-wooden bird carver, Caricature Artist, Horse & Wagon Rides by Dave Heisler, Lady of Salem Figureheads, Marine Modelers Club of New England, Marline Spike Artist-knot tying, Ould Colony Artisans, Salem Sound Coastwatch, Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site-17th century cooking, Sea Side Kites, Tinsmith, USS Constitution Model Spiwright Guild, Weaving and Spinning, and more!
