Schooner Fame Sail for Gloucester Schooner Festival

On Sunday of Labor Day weekend,schooners will form up for a Parade of Sail and then head out to compete in the Mayor’s Race for the Esperanto Cup, a trophy from the first International Fishermen’s Races sailed in 1920. Join Schooner FAME as we depart from Salem for a 5-hour adventure. We will join the other schooners and tall ships off Gloucester and sail out with them before returning to Salem in the afternoon.

On our way toward Gloucester, we’ll be cruising along the “Gold Coast” of Massachusetts and expect to see such highlights as:

    • Baker’s Island
    • The Misery Islands
    • Baker’s Island Lighthouse
    • Eastern Point Lighthouse

The cost of your ticket includes not only five hours of sailing on the water but unforgettable views of the most picturesque sailing event of the summer.

What to Bring:

  • Lunch is NOT included. Beer, wine, soft drinks, water and assorted snacks are for sale on board at reasonable prices.
  • Guests are encouraged to bring their own food and drink, but no alcohol can be brought on board due to state regulations.
  • Dress for the weather. It will be cooler on the water.
  • Hats, sunglasses, binoculars, and a camera are all good ideas!

“Untold Stories” at Salem Arts Association

Salem Art Association presents “Untold Stories” an exhibition inspired by two current Peabody Essex Museum exhibitions, “The Last Empresses of China: The Forbidden City’s Untold Story” and “Sally Mann: A Thousand Crossings.”  Salem Arts encourages artists to present their untold stories, hidden relationships, familiar connections, or any interpretation of these themes in any medium or style.

17th Annual Phillips House Car Meet

Join Historic New England and the North Shore Old Car Club for the Annual Car Meet, where vintage and antique vehicles are displayed on historic Chestnut Street. See the Phillips family’s collection of carriages, two Pierce-Arrows, and a Model A Ford. Rain or shine.

Wild Fish Open Water Swim Festival

This 1, 1.5, and 2 mile swim event has been very successful averaging close to 200 swimmers each year! Wetsuits are suggested for this swim, but not required. The water is very calm in the cove, which is located in Salem Harbor.  First 150 participants will receive race shirts – first come first serve basis. Sizes not guaranteed. Swim caps will be provided for all swimmers. All participants will also receive a custom finishers medal!

Beverly Homecoming Fireworks Cruise with Mahi Cruises

You’ll get your oohs and ahhs as the fireworks shoot across the sky above us. Enjoy unobstructed views out on the water, as we cruise to enjoy the Beverly Homecoming Fireworks!

On this 2 hour cruise you can expect to:

  • Dance the night away as we play popular jams all night.
  • Sit back and watch the fireworks explode through the night sky.
  • Enjoy the company of your group and make new friends.

Final timing and cruise length will be determined based on Beverly Homecoming Fireworks timing. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 PM, and the boat will return after they are complete.

After celebrating a night of fireworks with Mahi Cruises, we’re sure you’ll be back next year for more!

Bridge & Back 10K

The 2018 Bridge & Back 10K departs at 8:00 am from Tavern in the Square!  All proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, and the first 300 receive a short sleeve t-shirt. To register ($26) visit RaceWire.com.

Salem Willows Firemen’s Muster

An antique hand-pumped fire engine muster where crews pump their machines to see who can play the longest stream of water. This is the oldest organized sport in the United States. Spectators are invited to try out pumping the machines!
